250M+ Tonnes Across Three Continents Now Run on One Platform
One of the world's largest mining operators ran finance, production, logistics and HR as disconnected functions across three continents. We deployed SAP ECC 6.0 with subsidiary rollouts and integrated it with third-party applications. One Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform now supports 250M+ tonnes of annual capacity at 97% availability.
The Challenge
Finance, production, logistics and HR ran as disconnected functions across three continents. Coordination happened manually, site by site, with each new site adding another set of handoffs. The operation carried 250M+ tonnes of annual capacity and needed continuous mission-critical support, plus a steady stream of application enhancements the existing setup could not absorb. Disconnected functions make mission-critical, multi-continent operations harder to coordinate, and that coordination cost grows with every additional site. Mining does not pause while systems catch up: production keeps moving, shipments keep leaving, payroll keeps running. Coordination fell to people working site by site, by hand, on numbers other sites could not see.
What We Did
We deployed SAP ECC 6.0 as the core and rolled it out to subsidiaries, then integrated it with the third-party enterprise applications the business ran alongside it, so finance, production, logistics and HR sat inside one operating model rather than four. We took on end-to-end Application Management Services, including BASIS administration and system monitoring, so the platform is watched continuously rather than checked after something breaks, and enhancement requests are absorbed as ongoing work instead of queuing up as projects.
The Solution
One governed operating model runs finance, production, logistics and HR across three continents. Continuous Application Management Services, BASIS administration and monitoring keep it coordinated and enhanced as one system, supporting 250M+ tonnes of annual capacity at 97% availability.
The Outcome
250M+ tonnes of annual capacity supported on one ERP platform across three continents. ERP availability holds at 97% under Application Management Services, operational delays fell 25%, and process efficiency rose 30%. Sites stopped coordinating by hand. Finance, production, logistics and HR run on one rhythm, and continuous support means issues are found by monitoring rather than reported by a site that has already lost hours.
